How much does ESG consulting cost?

It depends on the scope: an ESG baseline assessment for an SME typically costs a few tens of millions of VND; a facility-level GHG inventory package with reporting under Decree 06/2022 commonly ranges from several tens of millions to over one hundred million VND, depending on the number of emission sources and sites; a comprehensive ESG program with sustainability reporting for a large enterprise can cost many times more. The cost-control principle: pay for data and in-house capability (an inventory system, team training) rather than paying every year for a report someone else writes for you.

How to choose an ESG consultant

Four screening questions: (1) does the team hold recognized inventory certifications (ISO 14064-1) and have experience in your industry; (2) does their methodology follow Vietnam's legal framework (Decree 06/2022, Decree 119/2025) while also aligning with international standards (GHG Protocol, ISO); (3) do the deliverables include a system or tool you can run yourself in subsequent years, or just a report file; (4) is the data ready for independent verification — an increasingly mandatory requirement in the emission allowance phase? A consultant that gives vague answers to questions 3 and 4 will leave you dependent on them long term.
